Start with context
Write down the market, session, chart timeframe and reference levels you are watching. Separate observations from assumptions. If a scheduled event is relevant, record its verified time before the session.
Write a conditional scenario
Describe what you would need to see before considering a setup. In the diagram, the reference is a range followed by a breakout and retest. That pattern is a way to organise observations; it is not evidence that the next move will continue.
Define invalidation and a reason to sit out
Decide what would make the idea no longer valid before considering a position. Record the conditions under which you would skip the session, such as an unclear setup or execution conditions you cannot evaluate.
Review the process after the session
Save your own timestamped chart, record what actually happened and compare it with the written scenario. Include skipped setups and losing outcomes. A useful notebook explains decisions rather than just showing the final result.
